Example Pictures of a Fake Internet Virus Scam
Hopefully this Tech Tip will help people avoid this common Internet Scam.
While surfing the web, a site popped up and claimed my computer was
infected by numerous viruses. To remove the viruses it wanted to
download and install a program. That program almost
certainly was a virus or malware designed to steal passwords or credit card information.
The pictures really look like Windows. How did I know it was fake
? I knew it was fake because my computer runs Linux, not Windows.
